Our Purpose

“To make disciples by helping one another DISCOVER Jesus, GROW together in faith, & SERVE our community and world.”

We affirm that every person on this planet is deeply loved by God. And that love was demonstrated concretely on the cross of Calvary. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Therefore, every person on this planet has unsurpassable worth, because Jesus paid an unsurpassable price. Therefore, we must become a people who get our worth and value from Christ rather than from any counterfeit source. His love is the soil we must be rooted in.

Spiritual growth cannot be manufactured. Much like a plant, it happens organically. However, there are some crucial structures that we can build into our lives to position ourselves for growth. Spiritual disciplines like prayer, solitude, reflecting on Scripture, receiving teaching, friendships with other believers, giving, and fasting can serve as the “trellis” that supports us and helps sustain life and growth.
At Northside, we place a premium on helping people develop a rich, interior life with God that can lead to fruitful living. For this reason, we offer regular opportunities in the form of prayer workshops, retreats, interactive Bible studies, and a wide variety of small groups (groups mainly meet in the Spring and Fall) to facilitate environments where people can learn how to encounter God outside of a conventional worship gathering.

Spiritual fruit is not something that we have to manufacture. True growth happens as we maintain a healthy root system in Christ supported by a stable structure of disciplines. Everything else happens organically by the power of the Holy Spirit.

However, we still need outlets to display the fruit of the Spirit in our lives. Hebrews 10:24 says we must “spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Therefore, we offer numerous ministries and outreach opportunities for people to engage in for the purpose of displaying the beauty of God’s character to the community and world around us.
