PURPOSE Statement - "Why do we exist?"
"To make disciples by helping one another DISCOVER Jesus, GROW together in faith, & SERVE our community and world."
As we help people discover Jesus, we are helping people discover the source of life and the ultimate fulfillment of the purpose for which we were created. Therefore, "discovering Jesus" is the foundation, the crosstie, that holds everything in place. At Northside, the primary avenue that we use to help people discover Jesus is through our weekend services and outreach projects.
The defining characteristic of a "Christian" is someone who is growing in Christ-likeness. We believe people are most primed for spiritual growth in the context of community. Just as the early church gathered together to "edify one another" (Rom. 14:19), "exhort one another" (Heb. 3:13) and "stir up one another to love and good works" (Heb. 10:24), we believe each of us has a role to play in one another's spiritual growth. At Northside, the primary avenue that we use to facilitate spiritual growth is through small groups.
In the "body of Christ," God has designed each one of us to fill a specific function as together we continue the mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ. In order to accomplish our individual roles, he has gifted each of us with specific abilities, passions, experiences, and personality traits that he intends for us to use to serve him and establish his kingdom. You can learn more about opportunities to serve at Northside through our Orientation Lunch.
